When I turned on my computer today, I noticed all the icons I have saved on my desktop are highlighted in blue.
Is this some kind of computer problem or virus?
How do I remove these highlights and make the icons ';normal'; again?

It's not a virus. Try this:
Right-click desktop and go to Properties. Choose the Desktop tab and then click Customize Desktop. Click the Web tab and uncheck My Current Home Page.
