To get Greenish blue highlights, do I have to bleach my dark hair first?

I've just dyed my hair dark brown which looks black almost. I just want to put in about 3 streaks of green highlights. Am I suppose to bleach it first? Any suggestion of hair bleach that will turn my hair rather yellowish than brassy orange? Thanks all!To get Greenish blue highlights, do I have to bleach my dark hair first?
It depends on how extreme you want to be. If you want the yellow, you can use Clairol Basic White Powder Lightener with 10 20 30 or 40 volume peroxide. Use with caution. Do a test strand. If you have someone who can help you it would be better. Put foil around the pieces of hair check frequently.

Well the question is do u want these greenish blue highligts permanant if not yes u can bleach it or just change ur hole hair color to a lighter hazel brown then if u dont want permant highlights, put whatever color koolaid in a pot and boil it until it looks pretty hot and liquidy. then pull out random streaks of your hair and leave it in the pot for 1 minute or more depending on how bright u want it, then wash ur hair and wala!! it stays for quite awhile does eventually go away, it orked on me FABULOUS!!
yes otherwise they wont show up. .........also you have to leave the bleach on longer to get it yellowish instead of orange I would recomend bleaching it to the orang-y stage then waiting a couple of days and bleach it again it should b the right color by then
I'm not sure what type of bleach to use, but you probably need to bleah ur hair 1st!
Yes, you will have to bleach the strands you want first, so the blue/green will show up. If you do it on dark hair, it will only have a blue/green tint out in the sun.
